I have owned 3 Panasonic razors over the last 10 years. All my past razors lasted well over 3 years in fact my 5 year old linear still works great. This one only lasted 1.5 years. The battery has been dying and has finally croaked. Not recommended.

I have owned the Panasonic ES7058S Shaver for seven months. For about six of those months, it has given me an excellent shave. For about the last month, it has been impossible to get even an acceptable shave, let alone a close one. I'm not sure what happened, but I've literally had to go back to blade shaving.
I experienced the same issues with the battery that others have expressed, initially getting perhaps three days of use per charge. And even then, heaven forbid you should turn the razor off before you complete your have on the third day, or it won't restart. I did that once on purpose to answer the phone, then a couple of times after that by accident (I intended to open the trimmer and slid the wrong switch...grrrr!!). If you try to turn it back on, it merely clicks away, moving the blades almost imperceptibly, but doesn't go back into shaving mode. It aggravated me so much (because I KNEW there was still a charge left) that one (third) day, I just left the razor on after shaving, and it ran for almost 5 hours before it quit...so there is a serious defect in the circuitry of this razor.
I determined that it was partly a Ni-Cad memory issue, so after letting it completely discharge that day, I gave it a full charge, then turned it on again and let it run 'til dead again. After that, it gave me a full week of shaves before requiring charging. I now use it for seven days, then leave it on after the shave on the 7th day to completely discharge, then give it a full charge and start a new seven. Charging it every day is not advised, unless you never will be using it away from A/C for any period of time.
The whole thing is very annoying, because my last razor was a Panasonic ES8066, and was a dream razor. I charged it every night, but I could easily go on 8-10 day trips and not take my charger...ever. It finally gave up the ghost after 9 years, so I thought I'd buy another Panasonic...such a disappointment.
Going back to the shave closeness issue, I suppose it must be the screen and/or blades, but I have no intention of owning a shaver where the screen and blades only last 6 months...that's insane! I've been contemplating returning to a double-edge safety razor to get a real shave again...maybe this will be the nudge I need....

This is my 3rd Panasonic electric razor because they're the best. This one shaves closer than my previous 2, it's quieter, and the self cleaning system is really great.
Some things to know...
-I can only get about 3 shaves out of this razor before needing to re-charge whereas my last one would go for 5 or 6 shaves.
-The triple blade system gets you a real close shave, but you give up some of the maneuverability (i.e. can't tilt as easily)
-The built-in clippers are narrow compared to my last panasonic.
-The ' Dry ' cycle on the cleaning system seems to do nothing. I've left it overnight and it was still a little wet in the morning.
Overall it's great product at a really great price.

OMG! I am writing a review about an electric razor! Yep... Here we go!! First and foremost let me say this. Unless you have hair growing out like Chewbacca, this razor is phenomenal!! I got it for $39.99 and free shipping, here, on the greatest place to shop in the world. I am ecstatic at how well this razor works! For starters I have used many different brands of shaver and I have pretty much had good to poor results with them. For the most part Braun makes wonderful products. I recently purchased there 3 series razor from Wal-Mart for $69.99 and this thing isn't even wet/dry, just washable. It shaved fairly well as most Brauns do but didn't wow me at all. I saw this on here for $39.99 and I saw mostly positive reviews. I felt like I had wasted my money so I took back the Braun and bought this panasonic. I won't be looking back anytime soon. For $40 clams you get a phenominal razor, charger, and cleaning stand...what more can you ask for??
I like to shave my noggin and I have a goatee. This thing works beautiful from the very first time I tryed it. It shaves quick and close and isn't half as noisy as anything I have EVER used. This model does not have the linear motor, but who cares! I have had a panasonic with the linear motor and except for a little easier cleaning from the increased rpms, I see no difference. Unless of course you are Chewbacca, then you may need the faster motor.
I see people complaining on here about the cleaning cycle taking too long. Well, if everyone in the house used the razor that may be a problem, but who shaves more than once a day? What difference does it make if it takes long if you can do your duty and then have it ready for the next day. Nit picky to me...
So in short I like to shave my head and keep a nice groomed goatee. This thing is the bomb for shaving your head wet or dry. Wet gets you a little closer, but not too much to whine about. The trimmer works well on the stache, but is a little awkwardly placed. Minor gripe!! As you can tell I love this thing, and for the price you simply cannot beat it!!
The battery even lasts a long time. I left mine running to see what we could get, and it ran almost 46 minutes before winding down. If you want the real opinion from someone who has used just about everything. This razor will not disappoint. Panasonic rocks!! Braun who?

I am very disappointed with the Panasonic ES7058. As you may have read in some other reviews on this site and on other sites, it takes many passes over the same area to get the hairs shaved off. If your beard does not stand straight up, and sort of grows close to your skin like mine does, it is basically impossible get a good shave. I have an 8 year old Braun that has a worn out screen with a hole in it and the Braun still shaves smoother than this new Panasonic.
From a full charge I only get about 4 shaves before the flashing LED's indicate the battery is down to a medium charge. Once the medium LED starts to flash, if you shave and then turn the shaver off, it might not start again. If you realize you missed a spot and you turn the switch back on, this shaver you were using 10 seconds ago just goes tick-tick-tick and you see the blades wiggle a little bit under the screen. If you are shaving and you see the low LED start to flash you had best hurry because at any time the shaver may just stop running and you will be standing there listening to the tick-tick-tick and watching the blades wiggle. I am sure it will not help if you throw it against the wall, it will just damage the wall and the shaver will not work any better.
When the shaver will not start you can connect it to the charger for maybe 10 seconds and then it will run again. If you just stand and hold the shaver, it may continue to run for 15 or 20 minutes so there is obviously a power management problem. The way this shaver works the NiCad batteries are not being fully discharged so don't expect them to last very long; I could not believe a shaver with this kind of retail price did not come with NiMH batteries. If I had not bought the shaver at the end of model closeout price I would be really mad.
I don't know if these problems are due to a poorly designed power management circuit or to poor quality material or batteries, I just know they are very very irritating. I would need to think long and hard before buying another Panasonic product.
